The core: Nashua and the towns around it
Nashua is home, and it is where the van already is on most days. Around it, the Merrimack Valley towns on the New Hampshire side are ordinary working territory: Merrimack, Hudson, Litchfield, Amherst, Milford, Hollis and Brookline. If you are in one of those, this is routine work rather than a special trip.
Bedford and Manchester sit at the northern end of the same corridor. Manchester in particular brings a different kind of call – more commercial hardware, more master key work and more multi-tenant buildings than the residential towns to the south.

The Massachusetts side of the line
The state line runs a few minutes south of Nashua, and the towns immediately beyond it are closer to us than parts of New Hampshire are. Chelmsford, Lowell, Tyngsborough, Dracut and Westford all sit inside that reach.
People in those towns often assume a Nashua company is out of range, and the map says otherwise. If you are on the Massachusetts side and the drive from Nashua looks short to you, it looks short to us too.
What the distance actually changes
For most jobs, nothing. A rekey is a rekey and a car key is a car key wherever the vehicle is parked. What distance changes is scheduling: a job at the edge of the area is easier to fit around the work already booked nearby than to drop into the middle of a day.
So the useful thing to do is call with the town and the job rather than guessing. You will get a straight answer about whether we cover it and when, and if the answer is that somebody closer would serve you better, you will get that instead of a wasted afternoon.

Crossing the state line on the paperwork
One thing does change at the border, and it is worth knowing. Requirements for locksmiths are not identical on both sides, and in some places they are set locally rather than at state level. If it matters to you – and for commercial work it often does – ask your own town or city clerk what applies where you are, and ask any locksmith you call the same question. We would rather you asked us than assumed.
What does not change is the identification we ask for. A car key is programmed against the registration and a matching photo ID, in every town on this page, without exception.
How the work differs across the area
The towns on this page are not interchangeable, and the job mix tells you why. Nashua itself produces the widest spread: older housing with mortise locksets near the centre, newer developments with standardized hardware on the edges, a working downtown with storefront doors, and a steady run of car keys from parking lots and driveways.
The smaller New Hampshire towns around it – Litchfield, Hollis, Brookline, Amherst – lean residential and automotive. Houses are further apart, garages and outbuildings matter more, and a padlock on a barn or a shed is as likely to be the call as a front door. Milford and Merrimack sit in between, with enough commercial frontage to bring regular storefront and office work alongside the house calls.

Manchester and Bedford change the balance again. There the recurring work is master key systems, access hardware for multi-tenant buildings, and the property-manager cycle of rekeying units as tenants come and go. Across the line, Lowell and Chelmsford bring a similar mix, with a good deal of older housing where a rekey turns out to be a lock rebuild.
Emergencies versus booked work
There are two kinds of call on this page and they are scheduled differently. A lockout is now: somebody is standing outside a house or a car and the job is to get them in. Booked work – a rekey after a closing, a master key system, a set of new deadbolts, a safe that needs servicing – is planned around a time that suits you, and it is cheaper for exactly that reason.
It is worth converting the first kind into the second where you can. A spare car key cut before it is needed costs less than an all-keys-lost job at the side of a road. A door that has started to need a shoulder is a ten-minute adjustment in October and a broken frame in January. Almost every emergency we attend had a quieter version of itself available a few weeks earlier.
